Commissioner of the Revenue
The office maintains the online real estate assessment information which interfaces the GIS (Geographic Information Systems). The Commissioner of the Revenue is responsible for assessing tangible personal property tax, machinery and tools tax, common carrier tax, bank franchise tax, real estate tax and public service tax.

The Commonwealth's Attorney
The Commonwealth’s Attorney serves as the chief law enforcement officer for the County. The Commonwealth’s Attorney prosecutes all felony and some misdemeanor cases. In addition, the Commonwealth’s Attorney advises law enforcement agencies, magistrates and citizens as to interpretation of the criminal law.

Community Development
The mission of the Department of Community Development is to assist County citizens in planning the orderly growth and development of Charles City County, to enforce compliance with applicable legislation in order to meet the quality of life, health, and safety needs of the community, and to deliver to its customers courteous, efficient, and competent services.

County Administrator
The County Administrator is an appointed official who serves as Chief Executive Officer of the County and is responsible for carrying out all decisions, policies, ordinances and motions made by Charles City County Board of supervisors.

Finance provides quality financial planning and management of the County. It maintains effective control over the County's financial activities and provides accurate fiscal reporting to all County agencies and departments in a timely manner.

Human Resources

The Department of Information Technology is to contributes to the overall efficiency and productivity of county government by implementing cost-effective technologies that will enhance the services provided to county residents.

Public Works
The County's Public Works staff consists of fourteen full-time employees dedicated to maintaining the County's buildings, parks, and water and sewer facilities.

Richard M. Bowman Center for Local History
The History Center is a county-owned reference library and archives, named after the late Richard M. Bowman, a civic leader and avid student of history.

Sheriff's Office
The Sheriff is a constitutionally elected official, chief law enforcement officer of the County, and executive officer of the Courts. The Department is responsible for execution of all process, writs, warrants, capiases, and other papers issued by State and County courts, and safeguarding life and property while maintaining order in a professional manner that preserves confidence in our democratic process.

Treasurer
The Treasurer collects real estate and personal property taxes, as well as, water and sewer bill payments, and revenue from the State and Federal Government. This office also sells dog licenses and issues landfill decals for your vehicles.

The Office of the General Registrar and Electoral Board of Charles City County strive to promote the highest level of service to the citizens of the Commonwealth by providing equitable opportunities to register and vote; and by maintaining accurate records relating to voter registration, elections, election officials, and candidates.
