Economic Development Authority
Purpose
The Economic Development Authority (EDA) is described in the Code of Virginia, Section 15.2-4901: The creation of the EDA by localities in the Commonwealth so that such authorities may acquire, own, lease, and dispose of properties and make loans to the end that such authorities may be able to promote industry and develop trade by inducing manufacturing, industrial, governmental, nonprofit and commercial enterprises and institutions of higher education to locate in or remain in the Commonwealth and further the use of its agricultural products and natural resources, and to vest such authorities with all powers that may be necessary to enable them to accomplish such purposes.

Market 5 Applications- APPLICATIONS DUE SEPTEMBER 30, 2023
The Economic Development Authority seeks small businesses to lease retail space at Market 5.
Market 5 is a flexible retail space and public engagement area at 11601 John Tyler Memorial Highway.
There will be six pre-fabricated metal shipping containers, including six retail spaces, one concession stand, one restaurant, and one stage.
The space will support retail and food vendors with a public lawn and stage for creative music, arts, festivals, and performances.
The public engagement area is adjacent to a creek and includes outdoor furniture, games, playgrounds, walking trails, and pedestrian and bike-friendly amenities.
